One of my New Year’s resolutions this year is to bring more “vacation” to everyday life – to purposefully take time to make the ordinary weeks feel special, and to develop little rituals of self-care and fun to break up the week. We’ve been trying to get in bed early to snuggle up with our books instead of mindlessly watching TV or scrolling through Instagram. We’ve been making more homemade cocktails to fancy up our Saturday night dinners at home. And perhaps my favorite new little ritual is that we’ve been having lovely little Sunday brunches – nothing fancy, usually just at home, but just taking the time to make a nice meal in the morning and linger over coffee and the newspaper. Somehow, dedicating time to cooking a real meal for myself and Brad on a slow weekend morning feels like the most decadent, lovely way to honor the weekend and make it feel special.

Brown Butter Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting
Happy December! We’re officially smack dab in the middle of the happiest, coziest, most butter-and-sugar-filled month of the year – and I couldn’t be happier about it. Although I’ll always miss living somewhere that snows during the holidays, the weather in the Bay Area has been semi-cooperating with lots of rain and gloomy days, so I’m feeling fully in the cuddly Christmas spirit!
Dark Chocolate Zucchini Muffins
HI!! I’m back!
After a crazy amazing summer that involved one very special day, I am so happy to be back in the swing of things! Something about Fall just makes me feel so excited to get back to business and get organized, even though I am definitely not a student anymore. I missed this blog and I missed you all!!
I know I am just catching the tail end of summer, but I couldn’t let the season pass by without sharing an awesome zucchini recipe. I am still seeing tons of zucchini at the Oakland farmers market, so I’m hoping you still have it readily available where you are, too. Can we hold off on the pumpkin spice and butternut squash for a little bit longer? I can’t handle it yet!
Roasted Spring Vegetable, Bacon, and Ricotta Frittata
Aren’t these weeks after Memorial Day so funny? It may feel like summer outside, but the calendar doesn’t lie – it’s still definitely Spring, for a little over one more week! Don’t get me wrong – I love summer and am happy to pretend it’s here as early as possible – but let’s not rush through the gorgeous foods spring has to offer in anticipation of watermelon and corn on the cob and burgers and ice cream. They’ll still be there waiting for us next week, I promise!
