So a couple of weeks ago I was looking through the archives of this here food blog and it struck me that I haven’t made a pasta recipe in over a year. Not a single solitary carb-a-licious one. This is obviously completely NOT indicative of how much time I spend eating/thinking about/dreaming about pasta. You know that, right? We know each other better than that? Just making sure here.

White Bean Pumpkin Hummus
Sometimes, with all the pumpkin pie and pumpkin cake and pumpkin muffins out there in the world, it’s pretty easy to forget that pumpkin is…a vegetable (well, it’s technically a fruit, but you know what I mean). You know, like a healthy thing with nutrients. That can be used in other ways besides being covered up with butter and sugar. I know, CRAZY, right?
Bacon Beer Cheese Dip
I’m gonna go ahead and say what I know you’re all thinking.
It’s something along the lines of, “Seriously Meg, we’re THREE WEEKS into football season and you haven’t even made ONE game day-themed recipe?!” I know, I know. I’ve failed you as a food blogger. I’ve been so distracted lately by bacon fried rice and pumpkin everything that I haven’t even paid tribute to one of the greatest parts of Fall, the Great American Pastime: stuffing your face with creamy cheesy things in the middle of the day every Sunday watching football!
Luckily, I think I’ve made up for being a little late to the game (pun totally intended) today. Because I have three little words for you:
bacon + beer + cheese
I mean…it’s all 3 major football food groups, people. We can’t get any better than this.
Edamame Bacon Fried Rice
I’m still having trouble believing it’s September, and the incredibly summer-y hot and stormy weather we’ve been having lately isn’t helping things one bit. But somehow it is, and the days keep creeping by so I’m just going to roll with it. From this point on, it’s warm and comforting Fall food all day every day, people. Get pumped!
