Well, we’re right in the thick of it, aren’t we? No matter how busy it always is, December is forever my favorite month of the year. Between holiday parties, birthdays (it’s both Brad + my birthday month!), gift shopping, decorating, and holiday baking galore, it’s pretty much an entire month full of things that I love. And, of course, the baking just might be my very favorite part (well, besides all the wine).

Apple Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Frosting
I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve never really been much of a cake person. To me, the best desserts are ooey-gooey and rich and dense, not light and fluffy and dry, which is too often the case with cake. I’ll eat it (I mean, who do you think I am?) but I would rather celebrate my birthday and other important events in life with cheesecake, pie, brownies, cookies, or a big ol’ bowl of ice cream.
So, you ask, why am I starting off a post on cupcakes with a rant on how lame-o cake can be? Honestly, it’s to emphasize that when I say these apple cupcakes are incredible, I mean they are super duper insanely incredible. They’ve shot to the top of my short list of The Exceptions to my meh-cake rule, which prior to trying these included only carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake, pumpkin cake, and these blue moon cupcakes. It’s a short but mighty list, these kings of my cake world, and these apple cupcakes with brown sugar frosting have nestled themselves riiiiiight up in the middle of it all. They’re SO good.
Sausage and Apple Pretzel Bread Stuffing
Another day, another pork-based Thanksgiving recipe. What can I say? It just makes everything better. I know you understand.
Last week we went a little non-traditional with some pancetta mac n’ cheese and it was seriously delicious. This week’s Thanksgiving side is definitely more traditional – a sausage and apple stuffing with all the fixin’s – with one critical sassy twist: PRETZEL BREAD. And guys, it’s so, so good. I can never go back.

It’s official – the apples have landed!
Hey everyone – Happy Wednesday! I don’t know about you, but I’ve got the Fall baking bug pretty hard. I’m dreaming of apples and pears and pumpkin and homey cinnamon-y smells coming from my oven. These cinnamon sugar apple muffins are straight up calling to me. Apple makes baked goods so sweet and moist, and that cinnamon sugar crumble topping situation has my name written all over it. Sooo good.
This rosemary-polenta pumpkin coffeecake is so gorgeous, and I’m loving the unique combination of flavors. Who would think to make coffeecake with polenta? I love it!
