Double Chocolate Halloween Graveyard Cupcakes

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, guys!!

I mean, how cute are these cupcakes?! Seriously. This is definitely the most Pinterest-y thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.

Anyone who knows me well can tell you that I am one of the most impatient people you’ll ever meet. I have a 2-second attention span for any craft/artsy endeavor that can’t immediately be shoved into my mouth. So I struggle a little bit with themed holidays such as Halloween. I love baking and making festive food, but the cutesy/crafty/decorative part has always been a bit elusive to me. That is: until I discovered that you could write “RIP” on a Milano cookie and in 2 freaking seconds create a Halloween cupcake graveyard. Now THAT is my kind of themed grub!

Foodie Favorites – July 8, 2015

His n’ hers burgers for the 4th of July!

Hey everyone! How was your 4^th of July? We grilled up some huge burgers (see evidence above), ate blueberry crumble bars, and drank maybeeee a few too many beers – basically, a perfect day! The only sad part was that we didn’t get to see any fireworks due to that Bay Area fog. Oh well, there’s always next year! I hope your 3-day weekend was wonderful as well. Let’s make this post-holiday work week a little brighter with some Foodie Favorites, shall we?

Cookies and cream cookies. I have…no words. These look INSANE.

These spicy Brazilian bowls are calling to me. I mean, put fried plantains on anything and I’m there.

Best airport food in the world: tortas at Frontera Grill at O’Hare airport in Chicago!

Hey guys! Greetings from sunny (and warm, SO WARM) California! This week has been a crazy whirlwind of starting to learn my way around a new city, massive Target trips, continued Aerobed snoozing, floor picnics for every meal, and learning to accept that I have to walk up a giant hill to get anywhere around here. I love what I’m seeing so far, and I can’t wait to share more! In the meantime, here are this week’s Foodie Favorites.

This chocolate pound cake with bacon bourbon frosting is basically all of my favorite things in one. Is this real life?

This cheese and bacon-stuffed French toast looks so amazing. Sweet/savory/cheesy/bacon-y gets me every time!

Foodie Favorites – September 10, 2014

Serious nacho business for the first football Sunday of the year!

Hey guys! Hope you’re having a good week. We’ve continued to have pretty great weather here (well, besides today), and we’re just enjoying a lazy end to the Chicago summer before a few hectic travel weeks coming up! Here are the things that are inspiring me in the kitchen this week:

This marbled matcha pound cake is absolutely stunning. I’ve never cooked with matcha powder before, but I can’t imagine a better inspiration to start!

These sea salt buttercream chocolate cupcakes are pure decadence. Usually I don’t go too crazy over cupcakes, but these flavors look absolutely out-of-this-world!
